The win was hard‑earned; the home side had to weather a determined comeback attempt before sealing the three points.

- 79th minute – Angelo Gabriel’s seal: The Brazilian forward finished confidently from distance, restoring a two‑goal cushion and finalising the score.
Al‑Hamdan’s impact extended beyond his opening goal; he also supplied the decisive pass to Gabriel, earning him both a goal and an assist in a match that demanded resilience from the visitors.
A post‑match surprise that stole the headlines
When the final whistle blew, the customary Man of the Match award was presented to the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo. In a move that surprised fans and pundits alike, the Portuguese icon handed the trophy to his teammate Al‑Hamdan. The captain then posed for a series of photographs with the Saudi forward, turning a routine accolade into a heartfelt moment of recognition.
The gesture sparked a wave of praise across social media, with many applauding Ronaldo’s willingness to share the spotlight and highlight the contributions of his younger colleague.
Al‑Hamdan reflects on learning from a legend
Speaking to local outlet Thmanyah after the game, Al‑Hamdan expressed how significant it is to play alongside a player of Ronaldo’s stature. He described the experience as an honour and a source of motivation to elevate his own performances.
He also noted the broader influence Ronaldo exerts within the squad, emphasizing the veteran’s professionalism both on and off the pitch. According to Al‑Hamdan, the Portuguese star actively mentors emerging talents, often prioritising the development of younger players before senior ones. The forward hopes that this collaborative spirit will translate into further success for the club and delight its supporters.
Implications for the title chase
The victory keeps Al‑Nassr firmly in the hunt for the league crown, narrowing the gap to their rivals and reinforcing the importance of contributions from the entire roster, not just the marquee names. With Al‑Hamdan’s emergence and Ronaldo’s continued goal‑scoring prowess, the team appears well‑balanced for the challenges ahead.
As the season progresses, the blend of seasoned stars and home‑grown talent could prove decisive, especially if moments of humility and teamwork—like the post‑match award hand‑over—continue to inspire the squad.
